Kimbo Slice Is Moving On To Boxing? Possibly…

November 18th, 2008

During a recent interview with Sports Talk 790 the Ticket, on November 12 Kimbo Slice mentioned that he may transition from MMA to Boxing. “I’m thinking about boxing as well… “Boxing is wide open right now. I want to do it all.”

And what about MMA and his loss to Seth Petruzelli? EliteXC “had us under the impression that the fight wasn’t happening. When they said it wasn’t going to happen, that blood I’ve been holding on the whole time while I was training, I kind of let it go a little bit”… “I was a little bit depressed, but I kind of had a relaxed mind frame and everything about me was no longer in fight mode.”

November 5th, 2008

As collateral, EliteXC has put up for sale the contracts for all of their fighters.  Among the fighters included in this public auction will be Kevin Ferguson, aka Kimbo Slice.  The event will take place on November 17, 2008, will the UFC sweep in and snatch up Kimbo’s Contract?  Dana White suggests that he has no interest in Kimbo unless he wants to be apart of UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter reality show… But maybe he’s just trying to devalue the contract so that Zuffa can take it?

Kimbo Slice Post EliteXC Loss Press Conference Video

October 29th, 2008

I’ve been waiting to see this video for a while, the Kimbo Slice post EliteXC loss (Seth Petruzelli) press conference video.  Jeremy Lappen Head of Operations for EliteXC first talks about Kimbo and how humble he is.  Kimbo then walks in wearing some shades to cover up the black eye, sticks out his tongue for some strange reason.  Kimbo then speaks about his loss, shakes Seth’s hand humbly and show’s off his first Black Eye ever.  He handled it very well.

Kimbo Slice No Longer Fighting for ProElite / EliteXC

October 21st, 2008

According to Sports Illustrated Magazine, ProElite, the partnership between CBS, Showtime and EliteXC has gone out of business. Apparently after Showtime was unable to obtain the percentage of ownership that it wished to gain in the company, the funding for the media company ProElite began to dry up, forcing the company to go out of business. The last promotion viewers increased from 2.7 million up to 4.5 million for the Shamrock vs Slice fight, however, the opening night gained the most viewers back in May of 2008 with 6.5 million viewers total. The cost of $500,000 for both Kimbo Slice and Andrew Arlovski each had something to do with it? Well, the numbers seem a bit steep compared to the $170,000 that the UFC gave Arlovski at UFC 82 to fight Jake O’Brien.

Bas Rutten Talks About Kimbo Slice EliteXC Loss

October 17th, 2008

Everyone knows that it was a very weird day.  An hour before Bas Rutten and Kimbo Slice left to go to the fight, they found out that everything changed, he was no longer fighting a ground fighter, and now a striker.  To make things stranger, he was caught with a strange punch just in the right place and Kimbo went down, a total fluke as Bas is suggesting.

Regarding all of the Kimbo comments, Bas says that the negative comments are all too much.  The media has really blown him up and he’s not ready for headlines yet, but that’s where he has been placed… But he has a lot to learn and doesn’t deserve all of the negative comments, because he didn’t ask to be put on such a high place.  Regarding a rematch, Bas doesn’t want to see it.  He would like to see Kimbo work his way up to the top before being put in such a place.

Classic Kimbo Slice Fight, Kimbo vs Adrian (Adryan)

October 16th, 2008

Here’s a classic Kimbo Slice backyard brawl video.  Adrian walks into the gates of the backyard like a true Billy Badass, Chest up high, arms out to the side because he’s so jacked.  My man Billy lacks skill, but has heart as he flares his arms in the air praying to land a shot.  Kimbo works his midsection some and works around him.  After taking some punishment, Adrian retreats, Kimbo slams him one more time in the head and he drops, game over, he’s out cold by a cheap last minute shot.  I’m sure it wasn’t worth the few bucks he made…

Frank Mir and Kenny Florian Weigh in on Kimbo’s Loss

October 10th, 2008

Frank Mir first saw on Seth Petruzelli the Ultimate Fighter reality show. He had some good background experience as a K1 type fighter and had good potential. Overall Frank thinks that this was the worst way possible for Kimbo Slice to lose. If he was submitted by Ken Shamrock, there could be a argument about it, but as a street fighter, getting dropped by such a shot, brings question to his chin for new MMA fans.

Kenny Florian gives a recap on the fight, Kimbo pushed forward as Seth threw a punch and a push kick, the punch didn’t appear to be much, but the force of Kimbo Slice coming forward, combined with the punch landing just right, was enough to rock him.

Kimbo Slice Tackles (TRUCKS) Fool for $100 Video

October 8th, 2008

Yet another moron pulls a stunt involving pain inflicted by Kimbo Slice for $100.  This time it involves a fool trying to catch a pass and run up the middle with Kimbo Slice as the defender.  This dude gets totally trucked!  Fast forward a bit for the action… totally laid out, I think he needs medical attention.
